About the Product

What is Easy Build Stone?Natural stone cut into thin slips for wall cladding, manufactured in the UK.

Easy Build Stone is a natural stone cladding system, manufactured in the UK using stone from British and Irish quarries, cut into 15–30mm thick slips for easier installation. It gives you the look of traditional stonework without the depth, weight, or complexity of full bed stone. Each piece is unique, with no set sizes, helping to create an authentic and natural finish that cannot be replicated by manufactured alternatives.

Is Easy Build Stone real stone?Yes — 100% genuine quarried natural stone, not moulded or printed.

Yes, Easy Build Stone is 100% real natural stone. It is quarried, cut into slips, and supplied as genuine stone. It is not moulded, printed, or made to imitate stone. That means every piece has its own colour, texture, and natural character.

What is the difference between stone slips and full bed stone?Slips are thinner cladding pieces; full bed stone is deeper traditional masonry.

Stone slips are thinner pieces of real natural stone used for cladding, while full bed stone is deeper and used as traditional masonry. Stone slips give you the appearance of a full stone wall, but with less weight, less depth, easier handling, and faster installation. This makes them a practical option where a natural stone finish is wanted without the complexity of full stone construction.

How thick are Easy Build Stone slips?Typically 15–30mm thick.

Easy Build Stone slips are typically 15–30mm thick. This gives you the look of natural stone without the depth and weight of full bed stone, making the product easier to handle, easier to install, and more practical for a wide range of internal and external cladding projects.

Are stone slips heavy?Around 40–55kg per m², depending on the product.

Easy Build Stone slips are lighter than full building stone, while still giving the look of natural masonry. As a guide, the stone itself is typically around 40–55kg per m², depending on the product. This makes it suitable for a wide range of cladding applications where full bed stone may not be practical.

How long does natural stone cladding last?Designed to last many years when installed correctly onto a suitable substrate.

Natural stone cladding is a long-lasting finish. When installed correctly onto a suitable substrate, using the correct adhesive and full pointing, it is designed to provide a durable finish for many years.

Where is your stone sourced from? From our own quarrying operation in Herefordshire and partner quarries across Britain and Ireland.

Manufactured in the UK using natural stone from British and Irish quarries. Our own quarrying operation is based in Herefordshire, and we work with a carefully selected network of partner quarries across Britain and Ireland to supply our full range of 12 standard colours.

Colours & Range

What types and colours of stone are available?12 natural stone colours including sandstone, limestone, slate, and granite.

Easy Build Stone offers a range of 12 natural stone cladding colours, carefully selected to suit both traditional and modern builds across the UK. The range includes sandstone, limestone, slate, and granite — giving a broad choice of tones, from warm browns and creams to cooler greys, blues, and blacks. Because this is real natural stone, every piece is completely individual: no repeating patterns, no uniform colours, and a finish that develops character over time. All colours are available with matching L-shaped corner pieces, consistent 15–30mm thickness, and a natural face with a sawn back for easy fixing.

Our 12 standard colours cover the majority of projects, but we have access to a much wider range of natural stone through our own quarries and partner quarries across Britain and Ireland. If you can't find what you're looking for, send us a photo of the stone you want to match and our team will do their best to source the closest option from over 100 colours, styles, and finishes — completely free and with no obligation.

Do I need corner pieces? Not essential, but strongly recommended for a convincing finish on external corners.

Corner pieces are not essential, but they are strongly recommended. Matching L-shaped corner pieces help create a more natural and convincing stone finish around external corners, avoiding the flatter appearance that can happen when only flat slips are used.

Installation

How do you install stone cladding slips?Prepare the surface, apply adhesive, press slips into place, then point the joints.
  1. Prepare the surfaceEnsure the wall is clean, sound, and free from dust, dirt, grease, and loose material.
  2. Prepare the stoneMake sure the back of each slip is clean and free from dust. This is one of the most important steps in achieving a strong bond.
  3. Apply adhesiveApply adhesive to the wall using a notched trowel, and butter the back of each slip to ensure full coverage.
  4. Fix the slipsPress each stone firmly into place, applying even pressure to achieve a solid bond.
  5. Cut where requiredUse a wet saw or angle grinder to cut slips for edges, openings, and corners.
  6. Leave joints for pointingMaintain consistent gaps between slips. This system must be pointed and is not suitable for dry joint installation.
  7. Point and finishOnce the adhesive has set, fully point the joints and then wash down the surface to remove any residue and bring out the natural beauty of the stone.

Do stone cladding slips need pointing?Yes — pointing is essential; dry joint installation is not suitable.

Yes, Easy Build Stone must be pointed. It is not designed for dry joint installation. Pointing is an essential part of the finished system and plays an important role in both the final appearance and the overall performance of the cladding.

Do I need to wash the stone?Yes — washing after installation brings out the stone's natural colour and texture.

Yes, a light wash after installation helps bring out the true colour, texture, and character of the stone. Always make sure the back of the stone is clean before fixing to help achieve a strong and secure bond.

What are the most common mistakes when installing stone cladding?Poor preparation, insufficient adhesive, dusty stone backs, and skipping pointing.

The most common mistakes are: fixing onto an unsuitable background; not cleaning the wall before installation; not cleaning dust from the back of the stone; not using enough adhesive; failing to fully point the joints; and working from one pallet only instead of mixing stone during installation.

Adhesive & Pointing

What adhesive should I use?Use a high-quality stone cladding adhesive designed for external use on suitable substrates.

A high-quality stone cladding adhesive should be used to install Easy Build Stone. We recommend using the adhesive system supplied or recommended for the product to help ensure strong adhesion, long-term durability, suitability for external use, and reliable performance on suitable substrates. Always follow the adhesive manufacturer's guidance for mixing, application, and curing times.

How much adhesive do I need?A 20kg bag covers approximately 6–8m²; a tube covers around 0.75m².

As a general guide: a 20kg powder adhesive bag covers approximately 6–8m², and a tube adhesive covers approximately 0.75m². Coverage will vary depending on substrate, trowel size, and joint size.

What pointing should I use with stone cladding?Sand and cement mortar or pre-coloured pointing compound — both are suitable.

Easy Build Stone can be pointed using either traditional sand and cement mortar or pre-coloured pointing compounds. The choice of pointing colour and finish has a big impact on the overall look of the finished wall, so it is worth deciding early in the project.

Ordering & Storage

How do I measure for stone cladding and corners?Measure flat areas in m² (length × height) and corners in linear metres; add 5–10%.

To calculate how much Easy Build Stone you need, measure straight cladding areas in square metres (m²) and corners or openings in linear metres (LM). Always add 5–10% to your total order to allow for cuts, waste, and natural variation in the stone.

  1. Straight cladding — measure in m² (length × height)Measure the length and height of each flat wall area you want to clad, then multiply to get the area in square metres (m²). Example: 5m wide × 2m high = 10m² of cladding required.
  2. Corners and openings — measure in LM (linear metres)Measure the vertical height of each external corner, return, window reveal, or door opening. Example: a 2.4m high external corner = 2.4 LM of corner pieces required.
  3. Add 5–10% for cuts and wasteAlways add 5–10% to your calculated totals to account for cuts around openings, natural variation between pieces, and any waste during installation.
How is Easy Build Stone priced?Cladding slips per m²; corner pieces per linear metre.

Cladding slips are priced per square metre (m²) and corner pieces are priced per linear metre (LM). To calculate what you need: measure the length × height of the area for m²; measure the vertical height of corners for LM; and add 5–10% extra for cuts and waste.

Can I order large quantities?Yes — one pallet covers around 20m²; a full lorry load exceeds 500m².
